About the Year End Shows
Not familiar with our end of the year music bonanza? Best described as a musical talent show, the Year End Shows include ensembles, classical piano pieces, student/teacher duets, family trios, jazz, rock, pop... and everything else.
What makes our Year End Shows so special? At the YES, students are encouraged to make pieces their own, and their imaginations are the limit. (We've had everything from students writing their own parodies of songs to students setting their song to sign language... or performing it in Portuguese!) We believe that meeting high standards can be rewarding and fun. With over 20 different shows and around 400 performers each June, this isn't a stuffy recital, but rather a music festival where everyone comes together to demonstrate and CELEBRATE musical achievement!
Since the first recital (of 14 students) at Bryn Mawr College, more than 3,000 students have participated in this event. Open to all levels, ages and instruments, these impressive performances are carefully orchestrated so that every student feels triumphant and hears an inspiring variety of musical peers in his or her age group.
