HOMESCHOOL GUITAR LESSONS

Extraordinary guitar lessons for homeschoolers – in our studio or your Main Line home!

"Our teacher has been WONDERFUL. He is punctual, professional, charming, knowledgeable, great with children, and has a terrific sense of humor. We love him. We are also delighted with the teaching methods he employs. The children are enjoying the process of learning to play the guitar and look forward to their lessons. They particularly enjoy the improvising! How brilliant! I feel like I struck gold on the first try. Meridee Winters School of Music 'rocks'! Many thanks!" – N.K., Wynnewood

At the Meridee Winters School of Music, we offer extraordinary guitar lessons designed just for YOU! We provide studio and in-home convenience, the highest quality instruction, and the best-trained teachers who will tailor your lessons to suit your unique needs. You also get three unique performance opportunities each year: our popular Year End Shows, the quirky Halloween Show, and the one-and-only prestigious Songwriters Showcase.

Our Main Line in-home and studio guitar lessons will have you playing real songs from the very first lesson — resulting in a rewarding experience and the kind of guitar lesson students actually look forward to! Using an exclusive, modern curriculum created and developed by Meridee (a school teacher and composer), students progress at their own pace.

Since 1990, this method has helped thousands of Main Line students learn — and learn to love — music. We are the only school in your area with its own published curriculum, in-depth teacher training, background checks, and customized activities for any learning style. Be sure to ask us about our custom-tailored programs for Autism, Gifted Students, and other special learners. Unlike most music lessons, which are often just a franchise or referral service, we are a real school, directed by Meridee Winters. Meridee holds a Bachelor's degree in Elementary Education along with post-graduate studies in music and psychology.

Beginning guitar lessons

Beginning guitar lessons start by building a positive, confident relationship with the instrument — so students sound musical right away. Our talented guitar teachers apply a modern approach to the fundamentals, encouraging students to explore playfully while learning popular or classical songs they love, and reinforcing technique through engaging skill-building activities and games.

Beginning guitar students — depending on their progress — have the opportunity to perform in the Year End Concerts or the quirky, fun Annual Halloween Show, both held at convenient Main Line locations.

Intermediate guitar lessons

Intermediate guitar students go deeper into the musical styles and artists that inspire them. You'll continue building technique and theory while performing music you love. You'll also be coached and encouraged to create your own "innovations" on the pieces you learn, as well as write your own songs.

Intermediate guitar students — depending on practice and progress — have opportunities to perform in the Year End Shows, the prestigious Songwriters Showcase, or the Annual Halloween Show, all held at convenient Main Line locations.

Advanced guitar lessons

Advanced guitar students pursue in-depth study of a particular style, period, or skill set of their choice — whether that's rock, blues, jazz, classical fingerstyle, or beyond. They enjoy many performance opportunities including the Year End Recital and Songwriters Showcase. Our teaching team includes members with advanced degrees and professional experience in jazz, classical, and popular styles who expertly guide advanced students through their musical journey. Why guitar lessons are smart and beneficial for homeschoolers

Guitar is one of the most versatile and rewarding instruments a homeschool student can learn. Here's why it's an exceptional choice:

Guitar is uniquely accessible — students can begin making music that sounds great almost immediately, without the frustrating early struggles common to some other instruments. And unlike single-note instruments, the guitar is both a melodic and harmonic instrument, meaning students learn to play chords and melodies simultaneously, much like a one-person band.

Guitar also fosters creativity in a direct, tangible way. Homeschool students who study guitar naturally develop an ear for music, learn to read rhythm and chord notation, and gain a strong foundation in music theory — all skills that transfer beautifully to other instruments or music production.

Research has shown that learning a musical instrument improves spatial reasoning, reading comprehension, and mathematical ability. Guitar study, with its hands-on, pattern-based learning, is especially well-suited to students with diverse learning styles — including those with ADHD, Dyspraxia, gifted learners, and Autism. Fun, inspiring guitar teachers

At the Meridee Winters School of Music, we pride ourselves on offering music lessons that are "a step beyond" any other — and it starts with our guitar teachers. We seek out the best applicants by directing our job postings toward creative, enthusiastic musicians. On average, only ten percent of applicants earn an interview, with even fewer being offered a position on our staff.

Our roster of talented guitar teachers specializes in teaching all levels and styles — from beginner to advanced, acoustic to electric, rock to jazz to classical fingerstyle and beyond. Using Meridee's exclusive methods, students are given every opportunity to make the most of their lesson time and develop all of their talents.
